Study Coach
A coach that helps you follow your own study plan.

What it is
Study Coach is a skill for Claude. It reads a folder of markdown files. These files hold your study plan, your daily logs, and your notes.
The coach does not teach new material. It keeps you on your plan. It tells you where you are. It tests what you know. It helps you write posts about your progress.
What it does
| Task | Result |
|---|---|
| Make a plan from your goal (Study Planner) | A plan for only what you do not know yet |
| Tell you what to do today | A short list of tasks for the day |
| Record your work | Ticks and notes in your day file |
| Show your progress | Numbers: day, pace, streak, reviews due |
| Test a concept | A grade and a date for the next review |
| Change the plan | A logged change that does not break the plan |
| Make posts | A blog draft and short posts for each platform |
| Put your progress online (optional) | A free web page that updates after each log |
Rules the coach follows
- Keep answers short.
- Use real numbers. Do not invent progress.
- If you are behind, say so. Then apply the rule. Do not blame.
- Do not accept "I get it" as proof. Ask a question.
- Do not stop a time block for a new idea.
- Your rules in
STUDY.mdare more important than the coach defaults.
Who is using it
I am using Study Coach for my own plan: my AI study dashboard. It shows my day, my pace and my notes, live.
Background: I am a senior product engineer. I am strong in Next.js and TypeScript, and I am learning Python ML tooling and Rust. In April 2026 I shipped an applied LLM pipeline (structured outputs, eval and repair passes). It had no telemetry and no measured results. My goal is to get hired as a remote LLM / AI engineer by building four measured, public projects.
More tracks will appear on the Tracks page, with days done and days left.
I use the coach to stay on this one track. It tells me what to do today and ignores everything else.
How to start
No plan yet? Use the planner first: /study-planner <your goal>. It finds what you need to learn and writes the plan. See Make a plan.
- Write your study plan in a markdown file, or make one with the planner.
- Tell Claude:
/study-coach init plan.md. - Answer the setup questions (start date, hours, goal).
- Each day, tell Claude:
/study-coach today.
Do you want a web page that shows your progress? Tell Claude: /study-coach online. You do not need to know git or GitHub. See Go online.
